Man arrested after eluding authorities across three states, LMPD officials say

Louisville, KY – Joseph Johnson, who had seven arrest warrants in Kentucky and extraditable warrants from Indiana and Tennessee, was captured last night. Johnson’s warrants included charges for violent offenses such as robbery.

In one incident, he allegedly stole items from a local retailer and assaulted a loss prevention officer who attempted to stop him.

The elusive Johnson was spotted at Derby City Gaming downtown by an off-duty 7th Division officer.

The officer promptly called for backup, and Johnson was arrested while attempting to place bets. He was transported to Metro Corrections and booked under all his warrants.

Thanks to the keen observation of the off-duty officer and the efforts of the CID and 1st Division, Johnson, an alleged violent offender, has been taken off the streets.
