LMAS stimulates large-breed dog adoption by giving out dog crates

LOUISVILLE, KY- To stimulate the adoption of large-breed dogs, Louisville Metro Animal Services will gift the adopters with free crates for their furry friends.

Until Feb.14, every adopter that will adopt a dog weighing 40 pounds or more will receive a free dog crate.

“We want to help adopters find their ‘pawfect’ Valentine. While most adopters are looking for a small breed dog or puppy, they are unaware most pets in our shelter are larger dogs whose size is the reason they haven’t been adopted,” said Ashley Book, LMAS interim shelter director.

The dog crate giveaways are a donation from PetSmart Charities.

Dog crates can help adopters by providing the dogs a safe space to go to as they adjust to their new homes.

The adoption center can be found at 3516 Newburg Road. Walk-ins are available from noon until 6 p.m. every day.
