The Louisville Metro Police Department seized dozen vehicles over the weekend as part of a crackdown on illegal street takeovers

Louisville, KY – According to the police officials, the operations targeted events where vehicles were used to block streets and engage in dangerous driving behavior on both public and private properties.

Acting on actionable intelligence that street takeovers were imminent, LMPD organized a specialized detail to address the offenses. The first incident occurred in the 8600 block of Preston Highway, where motorists were observed performing burnouts and discharging celebratory gunfire into the air.

The second location, the “Goodwill” lot in the 6200 block of Preston Highway, saw an estimated crowd of thousands engaging in similar reckless behavior, including spinning out and sliding. It took LMPD approximately one hour to disperse the crowd and shut down the event, utilizing resources from across the department.

The final incident took place in the parking lot next to Slugger Field, where LMPD seized multiple vehicles and made several arrests.
