The motorcyclist who intentionally drove into LMPD officer near Bowman Field has been identified

Louisville, KY – LMPD officials said that the motorcyclist who intentionally drove into a Louisville Metro Police officer Thursday near Bowman Field has been identified.

His name is Derek Hill and he is now charged with charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree assault of a police officer, resisting arrest and first-degree fleeing or evading police with a motor vehicle.

A glass drug pipe was also found in his front pocket, police officials said.

As we reported before, this accident occurred right after 2 p.m. Thursday.

It happened in the 3000 block of Bon Air Avenue.

LMPD officers were responding to a report of domestic trouble when a male on a motorcycle struck the officer. 

According to reports, the LMPD officers suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Other officers chased the motorcyclist who crashed on Taylorsville Road.

This incident remains under investigation.
